Quiet Nights

Every night I sit out and talk to granddaddy moon.
He isn't just a friend. He is my family.
I tell him about my day.
Some nights I can hear him chuckle at me.
Other nights I complain to him and thank him for listening.
He reminds me that that is what a granddaddy is for.
If I cry to granddaddy moon he always listens.
He never judges. He just listens.
He says so much to me in the quiet whispers of the night breeze.
Somehow he always knows just what to say.

Because "the day after your birthday really stinks," I think we should celebrate your quarter-century mark (or half-Jubilee, if you will...and I think you will) this entire year.
